When Hurricane Melissa swept through the southwest coast of Jamaica in October 2025, Westmoreland was among the hardest hit. Families were displaced, schools were disrupted and children were left navigating the aftermath of one of the island’s most devastating storms in recent memory.

When Hurricane Melissa swept through the southwest coast of Jamaica in October 2025, Westmoreland was among the hardest hit. Families were displaced, schools were disrupted and children were left navigating the aftermath of one of the island’s most devastating storms in recent memory.
On May 15, 2026 – Jamaica’s National Children’s Day – the Hedonism II Foundation returned to the community with purpose.
In partnership with Sir Clifford Campbell Primary School in Savanna-la-Mar, our team of 15 volunteers spent the day with over 300 students, delivering backpacks, tablets, school supplies, educational toys and games, and something just as important: their time.
Activities were led by Ana-Kay McNiece and included a positive affirmation exercise that touched students and volunteers alike. Shanoya Francis, formerly an entertainment coordinator and now a now a Gift Shop Clerk in our Lifestyle boutique, moved the room with a performance of “I Believe the Children Are Our Future.” A representative from the National Council on Drug Abuse joined the day to present on this year’s National Child Month theme: “Prioritize our Children’s Mental Health: Strong Minds, Safer Future.”
Community Outreach Project Manager Fiona McGrowder, who organized the event, put it simply: “A lot of the students are from communities and homes affected by Hurricane Melissa. Some of these students were displaced, and most of them are still processing the after effects of the hurricane.”
This is what showing up looks like.
The Hedonism II Foundation is committed to the ongoing restoration and empowerment of the communities that make Jamaica home. If this moved you, there are ways to be part of it.
